Trip Inclusions:
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1 Arrive Basel, Embark Ship
On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your river ship. Tonight, after enjoying some time to relax and settle in, enjoy a Welcome Reception on board. You will have the opportunity to get to know your fellow guests and meet your crew. Perhaps take the opportunity to head into town to experience the atmosphere of Basel at night.
Day 2 Breisach
Disembark in Breisach to discover the Black Forest region. Journey by coach through towering pines and birch forests that cover the mountainsides, to the picturesque village of Triberg. Return to your river ship for a Welcome Dinner on board.
Day 3 Strasbourg
Arrive in Strasbourg, the charming Alsatian city that straddles the border between France and Germany. Fairytale houses mix with cobblestone streets and canals, and Strasbourg Cathedral towers over the World Heritage-listed city centre.
Day 4 Rüdesheim
Continue your cruise through the Rhine Gorge, one of the most enchanting highlights of the journey. Widely regarded as the most scenic stretch of the river, you’ll be captivated by steep slopes blanketed in vineyards and crowned by dramatic, ancient castles. Your ship then docks in Rüdesheim, a charming wine town nestled along the gorge. Board the Winzerexpress mini road train for a scenic ride through the town to Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, home to one of Germany’s finest collections of automated musical instruments.
Day 5 Cochem
Sit back and soak up the scenery as you cruise through some of Europe’s prettiest stretches along the Moselle River. Discover Cochem on a walking tour, exploring the narrow alleyways with their half-timbered houses. Perched on a hill overlooking the beautiful Moselle River, we visit the magnificent Cochem Castle, which could be straight from the pages of a fairytale.
Day 6 Cologne, Brühl
Learn how the twin spires of Cologne’s famous cathedral, the Kölner Dom, took over six centuries to complete as you cruise into this picturesque city. Disembark and take the short drive to Brühl for your Insider Experience. This afternoon, enjoy free time to explore the centre of Cologne at your leisure.
Day 7 Amsterdam
With historic houses lining its banks and studded with low bridges, Amsterdam’s network of 17th-century canals lends the city its nickname – ‘The Venice of the North’. Today you will board a glass-top boat and glide past the city’s waterside sights with a local guide. Back on land, if time permits, perhaps grab a map to explore this carefree, cosmopolitan city and its magnificent network of canals.
Day 8 Disembark Ship, Depart Amsterdam
After breakfast, disembark and be transferred to Amsterdam airport for your onward flight.
