Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Washington DC

Join your tour group at the hotel.

Day 2: Washington DC

Marbled monuments and memorials, eclectic neighbourhoods, and high-profile politicos; Washington DC - ‘America’s front yard’ - is a real treasure trove of historic sites and neoclassical buildings. We’ll take a guided tour of the nation’s capital stopping by the Capitol Building, the White House, and the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument.

Day 3: Mount Vernon

Today we visit Mount Vernon, the stately Virginia home George Washington shared with his wife, Martha. Mount Vernon remains the most visited historic home in the USA, drawing 1 million visitors each year to its restored mansion, beautiful gardens, and other historic buildings. Later we take a leisurely drive back Washington DC and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4: Arlington - Williamsburg

This morning we visit Arlington National Cemetery, one of the country's oldest national cemeteries. The cemetery's rolling hills mark the final resting place for more than 14,000 veterans, including those who fought in the Civil War. From this peaceful, poignant place we continue our journey to Williamsburg. The former capital of the Virginia Colony until 1789, Williamsburg was England’s oldest, largest, richest, most populous colony and played a significant role in the American Revolution. You’ll notice plenty of European influence here - our first insight into the lifestyle of the first British settlers. We’ll stay here for two nights.

Day 5: Jamestown Settlement - Williamsburg

We look forward to a full day of exploration and historical discovery. First, we’ll visit Jamestown Settlement, the first permanent English settlement in the Americas. Then this afternoon, we’ll visit Colonial Williamsburg, one of the largest and most comprehensive living-history museums in the USA.

Day 6: Bellamy Mansion - Wilmington

This morning, we journey towards Wilmington in North Carolina. On arrival, we visit the beautifully restored Bellamy Mansion for a self-guided tour to give us a fascinating insight into life in Wilmington in the early 1800’s. Later, we transfer to our hotel.

Day 7: Wilmington - Charleston

This morning we're joined on our coach by a 'step-on' guide for an orientation tour of Wilmington. The local guide will provide comprehensive commentary of the historic district, points of interest and fascinating history as we tour the city. Early this afternoon, we cross the state line into South Carolina, making a stop at the historic city of Georgetown, before continuing to Charleston, a historic port city known for its charming architecture, pleasant weather, and excellent cuisine. We’ll stay here for two nights.

Day 8: Charleston

It’s impossible not to imagine yourself in an earlier era today as we explore Charleston’s cobbled pathways lined with colonial mansions on our guided tour this morning.

Day 9: Charleston - Savannah

This morning we make a stop at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, known as one of the most beautiful public gardens in America since it was founded in 1676. We then leave South Carolina behind for a journey through the Georgia countryside to Savannah. This famously beautiful city is a hub for creative types, but it’s the elegant 18th and 19th-century townhouses, brick ‘sidewalks’ and towering oak trees draped in Spanish moss that are likely to capture your heart. We’ll stay here for two nights.

Day 10: Savannah

Begin the day with a trolley tour of the Old Town, learning about the city’s Civil War history, three centuries worth of architectural prowess. This afternoon is free to spend as you please. We love a wander through Forsyth Park in the historic district. Dating back to the 1840s, this green corner is undeniably charming. It’s the perfect spot to get your camera clicking at that famous Spanish moss and iconic centrepiece fountain. Or perhaps just stop by one of the little cafes and watch the local life pass you by.

Day 11: Savannah

Say goodbye to your tour group for your onward travel.
