Day 2 - Williamstown - Woodstock, VT

After this morning’s breakfast, we’ll hit the road through the Green Mountain National Forest to our next stop: Manchester, a famed fishing and hiking hotspot. When we’ve had ample time to take in the area’s remarkable scenery, we’ll move on to colourful Woodstock – with a stop at the town of Rockingham along the way.

Day 3 - Woodstock - Burlington

The smallest state capital in the US, charming Montpelier is steeped in old-world New England heritage. We’ll take some time to explore the city before making our way to our hotel in beautiful Burlington – an artsy, cultured town perched at the edge of the peaceful Lake Champlain.

Day 4 - Burlington

Today there’s a treat in store for the aspiring chefs among us. Before lunchtime, we’ll visit The Essex Culinary Resort and Spa for a hands-on cooking class conducted by a foodie expert. Then: Burlington is yours to roam as you please. Take it from us – this town really does look its best during the autumn months!

Day 5 - Burlington - Jackson, NH

Before we say goodbye to the Green Mountain State, there’s just enough time to fit in a visit to Stowe, the quintessential Vermont slopeside village. This afternoon, we’ll take in some magnificent views of the White Mountain National Forest from the comfort of a steam train, winding up to the peak of Mt Washington along the famous Cog Railway. Tonight, we’ll rest our heads in old-fashioned Jackson.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 6 - Jackson

The town of Jackson looks like something from a movie set – with breathtaking peaks and valleys in every direction. Why not make the most of your seasonal surroundings with a hike along one of the area’s many mountain trails? If you’d rather take things easy, there are plenty of welcoming inns and restaurants where you can pull up a chair and take in the atmosphere.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 7 - Jackson - Lake Winnipesaukee

Vast and serene, Lake Winnipesaukee was named ‘Smile of the Great Spirit’ by the Native Americans – and today we’ll experience its majesty first-hand on a cruise through its 44,000 acres of sparkling waters. Back on dry land, this afternoon will be yours to spend exploring the area at your leisure.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 8 - Lake Winnipesaukee - Portland, ME

Today we’ll make the scenic drive from the National Forest of Hampshire to Portland, in the state of Maine. From the Old Port to the beach and the buzzing arts district, you’ll find that this lively town has plenty to keep you occupied (not to mention an abundance of fresh seafood to try).

Day 9 - Portland

Today we’ll board the coach for a short drive to the picture-perfect Casco Bay, whose many islands are sometimes referred to as ‘The Calendar Islands’. After taking some time to spot the bay’s lobster boats, lighthouses and playful harbour seals, we’ll return to Portland for our grand finale: a sumptuous farewell dinner.
